Whirlpool doesn't spin every time
tazman:
I have a Whirlpool LSN2000LW1 washer. Sometimes, after draining, it won't spin. If I move the basket by hand, then it seems to work. I have replaced the drive motor coupler and that did not fix it. However, now as it drains and sometimes spins, it makes a noise something like a whirring noise. Still, if I move the basket by hand, the spinning works.
Ideas??
Many thanks.

You might need to bypass the lidswitch and try it. It could be coming apart. The quick connect has 3 wires. 2 hot wires and a green ground. Jump them live wires and she will take off. At least you can see if that is it.

Lid switch? I appreciate the thought, but when it does not spin, I have opened and closed the lid SEVERAL times, and the ONLY thing that seems to make it finally spin is to reach in and spin the drum by hand some, and then it works. Sometimes, it does spin - it seems somewhat random.
The sound occurs even when it is pumping out the water. The water pumps out, but it doesn't always start spinning. When it doesn't spin, it does not start until the basket is moved. then the spinning works, and the sound (quite loud) continues. The sound was never there before I replaced the drive motor coupler. It sounds like the motor spinning.
The spinning problem happened yesterday (although quiet) which led me to believe it was the drive coupler but that is evidently not the problem.
Many thanks.
