LG washer won't power up unless I turn breaker off and back on

Hi,

I have an LG WM2277HW washer that will do one load.  After the cycle, it shuts off like it should.  But when I press the power button to do another load...nothing.  No lights, nothing.  I shut the breaker off and back on and walaa  the washer will turn on again.

I would check the connections on the control board first to make sure they are plugged in good. If you don't find any bad connections then I would replace the main control board.

How old is it?

A few years.  I'm not a repair person but I'm pretty handy.  How do I get access to this?

Their is also some kind of line filter thingy the power wire connects to. I wonder if that would cause your symptoms.

You would remove the top.

You are a legend JWWebster! You hit the nail on the head for my problem - check the mains filter! I did a test by connecting mains to board missing the filter and bingo works great. No just have to replace filter.
I have an LG WD-1480RD Washer/Dryer. Recently it stopped turning with serious noise (almost grinding sound). When powered off the drum was free to turn. Checked stator windings - all 8ohm so no shorts. Checked wiring to main board everything without success. Finally, removed hall sensor to inspect - nothing obvious. Clipped it back on and machine worked a treat!
Suspect a unbalanced load subjected machine to too much rocking and the sensor may have moved just enough to upset things. Did two loads - worked perfect. Next day went back to do another load and - nothing - machine dead. I figure that when it was having trouble before it was pulling 800-900 watts trying to turn the drum (checked it with a power meter) and perhaps that was the last straw for the filter - finally cacked out.
Anyway, big thanks to JWWebster for suggesting the dead issue was filter related.

Update to my last post.
I thought it was the mains filter causing the problem - turns out it was poor connection between the mains cable coming in and the filter. It took a LOT of checking of the mains cable, the wiring to the filter and the wiring from filter to the main board to narrow it down. There was sufficient connection between the spade clips that connect the mains cable to the mains filter to allow the machine to beep on power up BUT not enough to actually turn on. Talk about frustrating to find. I reclamped the spade clips and all is well now. If the problem returns I'll replace the clips with something a damn sight more secure.
