I'm troubleshooting my Maytag gas dryer (model MDG7600AWW
) because the gas goes out after about 15-20 seconds. The reason it goes off is because the Hi-Limit thermostat is opening up. I know this because I loose the 120vac on the output side at the same time the flame goes out. I also shorted across the Hi-Limit device for a few minutes and the flame did not turn off. Obviously, I won't run the dryer this way. I tested the thermostat using a hot plate and thermocouple to read the temperature and the device opened up at about 210*F (it's a 220*F device) which tells me it's okay.I verified that there is no clog in the channel from the burner to the dryer and from the blower to the outside vent (I'm 100% certain they are both clear). I also verified that the blower is working.
It sure seems like the reason is the dryer getting too hot but I don't know what else to check. Please help.
