Maytag washer NO DRAIN issue

I got a Maytag washer MAH8700AWW that wouldn't drain. This thing was full of dirty water and clothes for a whole week. The washer was so heavy that I had to use my AirSled to move it out so I could get to the back of the unit. Pulled out the drain pump and found a nickel plugging up the discharge side of the pump. A PERFECT FIT!! I showed the problem to the husband and he says, "Oh crap. Don't tell my wife this or she'll have a fit!! Just fix the damn thing and I'll pay cash before she comes home." I think he's in deep doo doo. Anyway, after getting everything back together, the water started to drain out but the sewer stench from the dirty water was really bad. BLAAAAAAA!!! It's one of those odors where you don't want to open your mouth to breathe. I just love this job.

I think Maytag used a nickel for sizing when they designed that pump.


Think it's a nickel that fits perfect in the outlet of the Maytag dependable washer tub too.
