Hello, I am new to this Forum, but mechanically savvy.
(Mechanical engineer, I own a small machining & welding shop)
I need help with the Oven in my Wolf CH-6-29.
See attached photos
I bought the range used and it worked fairly well for about 1~2 years.
The cooktop burners have always worked, no issues there.
The cooktop pilots are turned off, we light it with a BBQ trigger lighter.
Over time the oven developed an issue where sometimes it does not come on
and messing with the pilot or red button on the safety valve won't make it work.
(Probably the reason the previous owners got rid of the range.)
The local Wolf repairman came out and determined it was a faulty thermocouple.
He replaced it, the oven worked right-then-and-there for him, so he called it good.
But several weeks later the oven was flaky again, so I don't think the thermocouple
was faulty in the first place.
Now the oven won't come on at all.
We use the oven about 1 or 2 times per month, so testing / troubleshooting
was a slow process.
The oven's pilot light stays on all the time - you don't even have
to hold the red button on the safety valve to light the pilot.
It has always been that way.
The size of the pilot light can be adjusted with the small lever on the safety valve.
So at least that is working.
My first order of business would be to replace the Safety Valve
based on the fact that it is not as "safe" as is should be.
Perhaps that would fix the oven problem...
The Oven Tstat is a Robertshaw 250-550 (BJWA I think)
and I think the Safety Valve is a TS J-type
I was going to order parts from either:
dvorsons.com
fixitshop.com
erepco.com
Before I go and replace both the safety and the Tstat, please let me
know if there is an easy fix or something else I should do or check.
Also, which online store listed above would you recommend?
Thank you,
Jack
