Code LE sump

Hey everyone,

I just got a code LE on my LG dishwasher.  I pulled the 7 screws out of the sump but it won't come up.  It seems like the device that carries water to the top sprayer is holding it in.  Am I missing something here?

But before doing anything more be aware that in early model units damaged wiring harnesses can give a LE code. Somewhere on this site there is an article or post referring to that issue.

It is removed from the bottom.

The LE code may be something that clears up: If it's only happened once reset the power and test it in a cycle again.

If you've already done that: I've never seen a jammed impeller but check under the strainer / screen top assmy to make sure the center (wash) impeller is free of trash and turning freely. The upper spray arm tube assmy must be unsnapped from the retainer at the top and back of the cabinet interior. There is a stainless steel clip and screw at the point the assmy sits into the strainer / screen. Remove it and the tube assmy will be able to be removed. It has to removed anyway to remove the sump, should you have to.

If the impeller is turning freely the next step is to pull the dw out, turn it on it's side, remove the cover plate and test the motor in the center of the assmy. That is the wash motor. It is the only motor that is monitored for the LE code. If it is not obviously burned up you will have to run a resistance check on it. That info is available in the serv manual.

OK the impeller spins freely and all seems ok under there.  I guess I will pull it out and check the motor.  Can you tell me what wires to check continuity on?

Did you reset the power and run a cycle again?

And in regards to the wiring harness issue; what is the serial number?

A special thanks to everyone!!!  AJ, that link you posted was the problem.  Actually, it was a red wire that was broke but the blue and gray were about to brake.  Fixed all three and were up and running!

Did you insulate the harness from the door liner insulation? This is something you MUST do to avoid future wiring damage.

I did, I also put my fixed wires in shrink wrap.

Due to the thickness and the petroleum composition of shrink wrap I strongly do not believe that will suffice. I have used heavy cardboard and refrigeration foam pipe insulation ( rubbertex ). Do not use the cheap / hard plumbing pipe insulation. I am sure it will react like the wiring insulation does. Also insulate all sections where the wiring would touch the liner insulation, IE; behind the m.pcb, on the way to the dispenser, etc.
