My Maytag washer model MAV5057AWW will do nothing.How do you test the lid switch?There are four wires on this switch.The wiring diagram for the washer is missing,do you know where I can get a wiring diagram and a service manual for my washer.I would really appreciate it very much if you can help me.Thank you.

The Atlantis and Performa's lid switch was problematic and was subsequently re-designed during later production (2003). The current replacement, 12001908 has a longer plunger included in the kit. Go ahead and replace it, testing is probably not necessary. With the timer knob pulled out, there should be 120 volts at the black to white wires on the lid switch. There's a fuse link inside the switch to the Red wire that prevents anything from happening. Here is your wiring diagram...maybe you can print a copy (right-click, then select print):
