Frigidaire refrigerator model FRS26R2AW7
« on: May 29, 2012, 03:44:16 PM »
This Frigidaire refrigerator model FRS26R2AW7 that is giving me some trouble. At first it would not go into defrost,so I checked the defrost heater,(it ohmed at about 30) so I changed the defrost thermostat and the ADC.Now the unit doesnot shut off and the back panel of the refrigerator freezer is starting to frost over.I tried to put it into the defrost cycle by pressing the light switch 5 times in 6 seconds, but it did not go into defrost. In fact the compressor did not shut off. What is wrong here with this thing? Can some of you guys help me on troubleshooting this thing?

How long did it take for the frost to build? You been running the box with the access panel off there?

It looks like the ADC comes with a new wiring harness and instructions.  Did you install the new harness?  I would start by checking continuity between the ADC,  defrost heater and defrost thermostat.

Here's a schematic but it may be different with the new harness.

If I had to guess, I'd say your new ADC or harness is bad. Compare the new harness to the old one.  Are all of the colors in the right position?

The new wiring harness is a little different from the old one,as is the new ADC.Also only one of the switches on the damper is used with the new ADC.Would this make a difference?

Although I've replaced quite a few Frigidaire ADC's, I've never replaced this one.  What do the instructions say about the damper?  Can you scan and post the instructions?  I count 12 terminals on the new ADC and, according to the schematic, 11 on the old ADC. If the damper can't open, that could cause a long run time.

The instructions say to use only one of the damper switches instead of two like the old ADC.In fact their  is only one connection in the new wiring harness for the damper.

What was their thinking by installing 2 micro switches there instead of one? Apparently they feel one will do the job in the new con fig. hay i am learning just like you.

Not completly,I'm still troubleshooting it,but I think that I've found out that the light in the refrigerator side has to be working for it to go into the defrost.
