Kenmore dishwasher

Kenmore dishwasher model # 665.17032402, the clean light keeps blinking and the only thing I can get it to do is drain or cancel. When you push the other buttons the indicator light lights up but nothing happens. I guess I need some help on this, a repair manual and a schematic would also be helpful.Thanks

Hi,

Remove the toe plate below the door and look for the tech sheet.
It will tell you how to run the dishwasher through the diagnostic cycle for testing.

Let us know what you find or don't find.

A blinking clean light indicates a fault in the heating circuit.  This usually a bad heater but sometimes can be from the door not closing properly. Press Heated Dry, Normal, Heated Dry, Normal within 6 seconds.  This will reset it and run a diagnostic cycle.  If you have an ampmeter, clamp it on a main power wire before running the diagnostics.  Look for a 7 amp draw sometime during the cycle.  If you don't get a 7 amp reading the heater is not working.  If you don't have an ampmeter, just try running another regular cycle, making sure the door is shut tight.  If the clean light code comes back, there's still a heating problem.  Check for continuity of the heater.

I am suffering the same problem, and am able to clear the fault with the diagnostic cycle.  However, in operation, the machine is unable to complete a cycle without re-faulting.

I measured the resistance of the heating element (spec is 10-30 Ohms) at 10.6 Ohms.

Is there any way to adjust the trip point of the trigger?

That error can be triggered by things other  than a bad element. Right after you run the diagnostic cycle, carefully check the element for heat it should be quite warm. If it's not, check the heat circuit. (element, thermostat, contol board or related wiring) If the element is warm/hot, then the cause is most likely caused by water not circulating over the element  to heat the water. Check for low/no water fill. Should fill to just below the element. Make sure wash motor/pump is running. Check for debris in the wash pump or plugged/broken chopper in wash pump.
