Trash compactor issue

GE trash compactor with the newer trunion nut.  Was installed about 2 years ago and today I went out to find this problem. 


At first, the trunion nut was turning and everything was fine but it wouldn't raise the ram till I took it apart and found the threads still on the
shaft and the nut had come off.




The threads had completely separated from the trunion nut.



I thought this was so cool and funny.
