<p>These are questions I hear over and over. Often times I will be the one asking the customer how old there appliance is.</p>

<p>The Hall Effect sensor is easily removed and replaced.</p>
<p>You’ll have to remove the rotor and stator to access the sensor. </p>
<p>When replacing the rotor, you’ll probably need a helper to hold the drum in place when you push the rotor onto the shaft. </p>
<p>Otherwise, the drum may move forward enough to make replacing the bolt difficult. </p>
<p>The helper can also hold the drum from turning while you tighten the bolt. </p>

<p>This is the tool used to remove the tube/base springs from some maytag top load washer. </p>
<p>This tools is not necessary to remove the springs, but it sure makes the job a lot easier.</p>
<p>I have found it a lot harder to get the springs back on without this tool then it is to get them off.</p>
<p>If you don&#8217;t have this tool available to you here is a little trick I learned.</p>
<p>Once you have one spring off you can use that spring to aid you in the removal and installation of the other springs.</p>
<p>Simply place the hook of the spring you removed into the hook of the spring you want to install or remove and pull up.</p>
