Whirlpool Washer: No Cold Water

When any washer will not fill with cold or hot water the first thing you want to do is check the screens inside the water inlet valve.

All washer water inlet valves have built in screens and over time can get plugged up. In some cases stuff will get past the screens and permanently plug or restrict the water that should run through the valve.

If you have had to clean the screens before and found that this time it did not help it maybe time to replace the valve.

Were you able to repair your washer by simply cleaning the screens in the water inlet valve or did you have to replace the valve with a new one?
